Who can become certified?
Human Resource professionals with at least two years of exempt level HR experience are eligible for certification. Students and recent graduates may be eligible to take the exam and complete their work experience later. Why should I become certified?Certification sets you apart as a true professional.By certifying as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), you demonstrate that you have the knowledge and skills that are vital to human resource management. You will gain national recognition. Once you have acquired your PHR or SPHR certification, you can use your earned designation on your business cards and all of your business correspondence. You will be recognized as a human resource professional with sufficient experience and knowledge to pass a comprehensive certification exam based on the vast body of knowledge that comprises the human resource field. Certification is essential to your career. Nationwide there are more than 80,000 certified HR professionals, with thousands more certifying each year. In the future, certification will increasingly be recognized as an essential standard for human resource managers. Many companies already limit employment in human resource management positions to those who are certified professionals. You can learn more about Human Resource Certification at the HRCI (Human Resource Certification Institute) web site. How do I register to take the Certification exam? The human resource certification exams are administered by HRCI. You can request a Certification Information Handbook, which includes information regarding qualifying for the exam and an application form, by writing to HRCI at 1800 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314-3499.
